The preview that
makes it effortless.
A pre-wedding preview to settle your exact hair and makeup, so the wedding morning itself is calm, confident, and completely effortless.
Where the
morning is won.
A preview is Updo’s Studio’s name for a bridal hair and makeup trial: a pre-wedding appointment where your exact look is tested, photographed, and documented. It is included in every package and best scheduled 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding.
The wedding morning feels effortless because of a quieter appointment weeks earlier. A preview, what many brides call a hair or makeup trial, is where we turn a folder of inspiration into your look: pinning, painting, photographing, and adjusting until it’s exactly right, with all the time in the world to get there.
We try the style you came in for, and often one you didn’t expect to love. We test how your skin takes the makeup, how your hair holds, which lashes suit your eyes. Then we document every decision (products, placement, the angle of a wave) so the day-of result is seamless, even if a different artist on our team finishes you.
A preview is included in every package, because it’s where trust is built. By the time the wedding morning comes, there are no surprises, just a look you already know you love, recreated while you relax.
An hour or two, well spent.
Previews are usually held in-studio, or when you’re already nearby. Come with clean, dry hair and a face free of makeup, and bring your inspiration.
We talk it through
Your dress, your venue, your inspiration, and how you want to feel. We bring honest guidance on what will photograph and last.
We test the look
Hair and makeup, start to finish (often more than one direction) so you see the real thing, not a description.
We photograph it
We shoot the finished look under light and review it on camera, the way it’ll be seen on the day.
We document everything
Products, placement, and every detail are noted so your day-of look is recreated seamlessly.

“They made the trial process fun and easy, which helped me know for certain how I wanted it to look on the day. They were able to take my many inspiration photos and turn them into reality.”
Do I need a wedding hair or makeup trial?
We strongly recommend one, and a preview is our name for that trial. A bridal hair and makeup trial is where you settle your exact look, test how your skin and hair respond, and remove every surprise from the wedding morning. It is included in every Updo’s package, so there is no reason to skip it.
Is a preview included, or does it cost extra?
A bridal preview is included in every one of our packages. It’s not an upsell. It’s a core part of how we deliver an effortless wedding morning.
When should I schedule my preview?
We recommend 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding, once you have your dress and a clear sense of your accessories. That’s late enough that your vision is settled, and early enough to make changes without pressure.
How should I prepare?
Come with clean, dry hair and no makeup, wearing a top in a color near your dress if you can. Bring your veil and any accessories, plus inspiration photos, even several different directions. The more we see, the better we tailor.
What if I want to change the look afterward?
That’s exactly what the preview is for. We note everything, and if you want to adjust before the day, we’ll talk it through. Some brides book a second preview to settle a major change; most don’t need to.
Will the same artist do my wedding day?
We document your preview in detail (products, placement, technique) so your look is recreated seamlessly. We make every effort to pair you with the same artist, and because everything is recorded, your result is consistent regardless.
